Guidelines for First Year Academic Advising
All students coming in with 0—24 credits are considered first year students (Freshman class)
Getting to know your advisee is good practice which will provide a foundation for an effective advising relationship.
Introduce advisee to Course curricular plan as well as degree requirements for graduation.
Advisors play a huge role in helping students navigate the resources on campus.
Students may change advisors at any time. Some students may seek out an advisor in their degree field before they officially declare a field of study.
You are encouraged to make connections with students during the summer by simply reaching out to them via email or set up a time for a phone conversation.
