Requirements for Nursing Students

There are a number of requirements nursing majors must have before beginning any nursing course.

These requirements are:

  • Mumps, Measles (Rubeola), and Rubella (MMR): Two doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or two MMR vaccines or a titer with Immune results for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.
  • Hepatitis B: vaccination series (three vaccines) and provide results for a Hepatitis B surface antibody titer.
  • Varicella (chickenpox): Two Varicella vaccines or proof of immunity by positive Varicella titer. Student self-report of having had Varicella is adequate proof of immunity by completing the student self-report form with the UMFK Division of Nursing.
  • PPD: testing for tuberculosis. Complete the consent to TB screening form and provide 2 PPD tests within the past year or complete a 2-step PPD. An annual PPD test will be required thereafter while in the nursing program.
  • Health Evaluation: physical exam

  • Create an account and complete your immunization record with the Verified Credentials Tracking System.

If students have questions, they can contact Leslie (lesliek@maine.edu) or Sofia (sbirden@maine.edu) for help. You as the advisor may also contact us if you have questions.
