Admissions

Admissions Requirements:

Academic Advisors need to reach out to the Admissions Office for general admissions requirements and processes. Contact Person: Sage Stroud, Data Management Tech, Admissions. 207-834-7866 or sage.stroud@maine.edu.

First-year candidates are required to graduate from an approved secondary school or complete the GED equivalent. It is recommended that the high school record will include the following...

College Preparatory Courses:

  • English: four (4) years,
  • Social science: two (2) years,
  • Mathematics: three (3) years (Algebra I/II & Geometry), and Science with laboratory experience: two (2) years.
  • A foreign language is recommended.

First-year candidates for the Traditional Nursing program are recommended to have completed the

  • following College Preparatory courses with a grade of C, or better, in:
  • English: four (4) years,
  • Social science: two (2) years,
  • Mathematics: three (3) years (Algebra I/II & Geometry),
  • Science with laboratory experience: two (2) years (Biology and Chemistry), and
  • Anatomy and Physiology or Physics.
  • A foreign language is recommended.

Students not meeting the Traditional Nursing guidelines may be admitted to the Allied Health Bachelor of Arts and Sciences program. After successful completion of the first semester, students may meet with a nursing advisor to determine eligibility for the Nursing program.

Immunization Law

The State of Maine requires all students born after 1956 to furnish proof of immunization against measles, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria.

International applicants should upload their immunization records to: University of Maine System Immunization Portal

Health Insurance

All F1 & J1 international students will be charged the student health insurance. 

If they have their own, they need to complete an online waiver and the charge will come off within a few business days.
If they miss the waiver deadline, they need to come to the Business Office to complete an appeal.
Students cannot waive the insurance unless they are already signed up for classes and the charge is on their account.

**The waiver site does change year to year, Gallagher is the FY24 waiver site.
