Services available for faculty, staff, and students
Document Delivery Services
University of Maine at Machias faculty, staff, and students may use this service to obtain pdf copies of journal articles or book chapters held by the Library. Document Delivery staff will post a scanned pdf of journal article(s) to the requester's ILLiad account. Requests may be made through your ILLiad account by using the appropriate form for either an Article or Book Chapter.
URSUS and MaineCat delivery services
Most books that are listed in the URSUS and MaineCat catalogs with the status "Available," and are located at libraries other than the campus library (e.g., UM-Fort Kent, Bowdoin), may be requested online. When viewing a record in URSUS for an item you wish to request, click the request button and enter the information required. In the box labeled "Choose Pickup Location," select "appropriate campus." Within MaineCat, first select "Univ of Maine at Machias" from the pull-down menu below the heading "Choose Your Library." After the lending library delivers the books to the campus Library, Circulation staff will check them in and place them on the hold shelf in the Library. You will receive an email informing you that your requested item(s) is/are ready for pick-up and check-out. Books are usually delivered within 3-4 business days.
Interlibrary Loan
Use ILLiad for articles in journals not held by the Library, and for books not listed in, or not currently "available" for request in, the URSUS and MaineCat catalogs.
