What is ILLiad?

ILLiad is the software used by the Library for requesting Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials beyond LibrarySearch and MaineCat. If you don't have an account, you can create one here.

Who can use the Library's Interlibrary Loan Service?

University of Maine at Machias faculty, staff, and registered students can use ILL services. Courtesy Card holders should use their local public or school library's ILL services.

Important Account Information:

  • Do not use "@" in your login name – this causes access errors.
  • Type "MACHIAS" in the Primary Address 1 line when registering for an account.

Please note: We cannot ship loaned items off-campus due to supplier restrictions. Loaned items must be returned directly to Merrill Library.

Exclusions for Students:

  • Items marked "LIBRARY USE ONLY"
  • Items on reserve
  • Textbooks required for class
  • Items electronically available through LibrarySearch

Document Delivery Services:

UMaine Machias faculty and staff can request PDF copies (up to 30 pages) of journal articles or book chapters from Fogler Library through ILLiad.

Purpose

The Interlibrary Loan Department at UMaine’s Fogler Library supports Merrill Library and other UMS Libraries by obtaining research materials not available in LibrarySearch or MaineCat. Faculty, staff, and students can borrow directly from these catalogs using the Request function. ILL staff handle requests for materials not found in either system.
