Understanding Information Tools: Tool Similarity

Common parts to information tools

Most information tools have common aspects to them such as: Advanced Search option, a Search Box, Search Limiters or Refinements (e.g. date range, publication name, specialized limiters).

They may simply look different depending on the tool you use.

See the examples of different tools below:

ebsco advanced search

bioone advanced search

proquest's sociology advanced search

google scholar

As long as you find the search box, starting a search in an unfamiliar tool should never be difficult.
