What we do

The Acadian Archives documents, preserves, celebrates, and disseminates information about the Upper St. John Valley, a 70-mile stretch of the St. John River running between the U.S. and Canada. Though the Archives focuses particular attention on the Acadian & Franco-Americans in this region, we also share the story of the Irish/Scotts who settled in Allagash and the Indigenous peoples who originally settled this region.

We're also a quiet place for students to study, work on homework, or meet for clubs. Anytime our doors are open, feel free to stop by.

How to use this guide

This guide is geared towards students, teachers, and educators to teach them about the archives, the resources we offer, and how they can utilize our services. Each tab presents a different service we offer or additional resources that may be useful for further research. Don't hesitate to reach out to staff via the meet our staff page if you have any questions!
