DEI stands for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Dictionary.com defines DEI as "...a conceptual framework that promotes the fair treatment and full participation of all people, especially in the workplace, including populations who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination because of their background, identity, disability, etc."

This libguide was created as an educational tool to share books, videos, news, articles, and other information on historically underrepresented groups/topics. A separate libguide has been created for the topic of Indigenous Peoples' history.
The National Institute of Health defines biases as "consisting of attitudes, behaviors, and actions that are prejudiced in favor of or against one person or group compared to another."
It also defines implicit bias as " a form of bias that occurs automatically and unintentionally, that nevertheless affects judgments, decisions, and behaviors. Research has shown implicit bias can pose a barrier to recruiting and retaining a diverse scientific workforce."
