How to get Books

If you are taking an online course at UMFK and you are not in the Fort Kent area, then the following are some ways to get the books you may need for an assignment:

  • First option is to try your high school library - your library may have a book that your professor can approve
  • Second option is to try your local public library if you have one.
  • Third option is to see if your HS library or your public library has a way to borrow books from other locations.
    • One or both might be using MaineCat or another system that allows you to request books online.
    • If they do not have a way for you to request a book online, see if your library has a service called "Interlibrary Loan." This allows your library to borrow a book for you.
  • Fourth option is to use an electronic book found either at the download library or in the Blake Library catalog if you have a UMFK student account (@maine.edu).
  • If none of these options are available to you, please use the contacts tab above or go to the Blake Library website at UMFK. We will see what we can do to help you.

If you would like to get a library card from UMFK, please contact Dana Appleby at dana.appleby@maine.edu.
