UMS Libraries Integrated Library System (ILS) Transition

Definitions

LibrarySearch: the name for Primo, the combination Catalog (URSUS) and all Resources (OneSearch) search function. 

ILS: Integrated Library System. It is that which makes up the entire library system with functions that include but are not limited to Circulation, Acquisitions, Cataloging, etc. It is also known as a Library Management System.

ALMA: the new ILS that will replace what is currently used called Sierra, both under the parent company of Clarivate.

Primo: the Discovery Layer that will be called LibrarySearch. It replaces both the Catalog (URSUS) and Summon (OneSearch).

Discovery Layer: a graphical user interface that combines the library catalog and electronic resources in one search function

URSUS: Unified Resources Serving Users State-wide consortium. The consortium is made up of the University of Maine System Libraries (UMSL), Maine State Library (MSL), Bangor Public Library (BPL), Portland Public Library (PPL), and the Law & Legislative Reference Library (LLRL).
