The University of Maine System (UMS) has announced that they have collaborated with Google to enable free access to Gemini AI (Artificial Intelligence) for all members of the university community. This initiative is part of their ongoing efforts to provide cutting-edge tools to enhance research, teaching, and administrative capabilities across our campuses. Gemini AI is Google's advanced artificial intelligence model that offers a wide range of capabilities, including natural language processing, image analysis, and code generation.
The UMS wants to emphasize that they are not requiring anyone to use any of the AI tools mentioned nor should you use protected data with them.
can assist with tasks such as writing, research, problem-solving, and creative ideation. To access Gemini AI:
Though excited about Gemini AI, they also want to ensure you're aware of other free AI tools available:
UMS encourages you to explore these tools and consider how they might enhance your work and research. However, please remember to use these AI tools responsibly and in accordance with the UMS's University's ethical guidelines and academic integrity policies.

Papers of every size and shape swirl down from the turbulent sky, like confetti or autumn leaves, some caught in the computer's metallic curves, others drifting lazily to the ground. The scene is set amidst a tapestry of rich, vibrant hues, blending the bold, expressive brushstrokes of neo-impressionism with the textured, almost three-dimensional quality of post-impressionist impasto. Thick, heavy layers of oil paint and acrylics are applied in bold, gestural strokes, imbuing the scene with a sense of dynamic energy and expressive movement, evoking the styles of artists like Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, and Franz Marc.”; Aspect ratio 16:9; Image modified by library staff using Gimp.
