Open Education Resources (OER) at UMFK: Home

Introduction

<

Welcome to OER at UMFK.

Open Educational Resources or OER are resources that are in the public domain and/or made available to the public to use with generally few restrictions. Many of these resources are licensed under the Creative Commons license. See https://creativecommons.org/licenses/ for information.

Periodically, the resources in this guide will be checked for broken links, revision changes, and changes to author status if possible. If you find a broken link or other issue and would like to report it, or if you have any questions, please contact Sofia Birden at sbirden@maine.edu.

  • OER materials are sorted by subject along the top of the page
  • The "Mixed Collections" tab provides links to established collections of resources through which one can browse for materials.
  • Currently, most resources in this guide are text-based. However, there are a few courses suggested in the "Courses" tab. Some of these courses supply free texts that may be used without having to use the course.
  • Most OER courses are free to use without restrictions. However, be sure to check the use policy. If not sure, you may submit the course to sbirden@maine.edu to verify.
  • The submission option to the right is meant to suggest new resources that are not currently in the guide or to provide an easy way for instructors to submit a resource for review by Sofia Birden.
  • Be aware that copyrighted material that is not meant to be distributed for free will not be included in this guide.
  • Finally, you, the instructor, are the expert regarding content. We rely on you to consider the content, whereas our role is to make sure the material meets the CC licensing and is considered a legitimate resource (for example, is the author truly who they say they are).
  • Please feel free to contact Sofia Birden at sbirden@maine.edu if you have any questions or discover any mistakes.
